Job summary

Meratus Group, a leading Indonesian maritime and logistics operator, seeks a Business Development Analyst to support organic (greenfield) and inorganic (M&A) growth from its Surabaya headquarters.

The role requires strong market research, data analysis, corporate finance, and project management skills, with English and Bahasa Indonesia fluency and proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint. You will evaluate investments, coordinate deals, and monitor post‑investment performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Professional certifications (CPA, CFA, CMA) are highly valued.
• Minimum 2 years for Business Development Analyst, and 4 years for Experienced Business Development Analyst, of experience in big‑4 advisory service, consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, or business development.
• Experience in shipping or logistics industry is an additional advantage.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (spoken & written).
• Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• High attention to detail, curiosity, and ability to communicate efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Research market size, growth, supply and demand, and competitive landscape for organic and inorganic projects.
• Develop financial models and business cases for the investment project; monitor post‑investment performance.
• Support investment execution and post‑investment monitoring; lead deal structuring and negotiation support.
• Screen potential targets and perform business, financial, tax, operational, and legal analysis for investment opportunities.
• Review research and financial models of investment projects and lead on the deal structuring for inorganic growth.

Position Overview

Meratus Group seeks a high‑calibre and experienced Business Development Analyst to support business development initiatives including organic (greenfield investment) and inorganic (M&A) growth.

This role requires strong background in market research, data analysis, corporate finance, business/ potential investment analysis, project/ stakeholder management, and transaction/ investment execution.

This role is based at our corporate headquarter in Surabaya.

Key Responsibilities

For Business Development Analyst

Organic (greenfield investment) projects

• Research on the potential industry:
  • Market size and growth
  • Supply and demand
  • Competitive landscape
  • Location and infrastructure of the potential investment’s site
  • Labour and socio‑economic factors
  • Regulatory and legal environment
• Monitor market intelligence and maintain selected market database
• Develop financial models and business cases for the investment project
• Support investment execution and post‑investment monitoring

Inorganic (M&A) projects

• Potential target screening based on criteria in line with the group’s growth strategy
• Analysis, including business, financial, tax, operational, and legal, of the potential investment
• Valuation of the potential investment
• Negotiation support

For Experienced Business Development Analyst

Organic (greenfield investment) projects

• Review the research and the financial models and business case of the investment project
• Post‑investment monitoring

Inorganic (M&A) projects

• Review on the potential target screening, the investment evaluation, and lead on the deal structuring
• Lead transaction execution
• Negotiation support
