PT Bukit Muria Jaya is seeking an experienced Boiler & Compressor Section Head to lead boiler and compressor operations in Karawang, West Java. This full-time role requires strong leadership to drive reliability, safety, and maintenance across critical equipment, while guiding engineers and technicians.

You will oversee daily plant operations, optimize energy use, implement preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety standards and ISO requirements.

Formación

• Minimum 5 years in boiler and compressor systems operation.

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial engineering or related.
• Strong boiler and compressor design, operation, maintenance knowledge.
• Experience with biomass boiler operations.

About the role

PT Bukit Muria Jaya is seeking an experienced Boiler & Compressor Section Head to join our engineering team in Karawang, West Java. This is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to lead and oversee the boiler and compressor operations within our mechanical engineering division. As Section Head, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, safety, and maintenance of critical equipment whilst leading a dedicated team of engineers and technicians. This role is pivotal to our operations and directly impacts our production efficiency and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of existing boilers (coal) and compressors to ensure uninterrupted steam and instrument air supply to production lines (zero unplanned downtime).

Manage boiler and compressor start-up and shutdown processes safely, minimizing thermal shock to equipment.

Conduct thermal efficiency tests and optimize fuel and electricity consumption ratios to support corporate energy targets.

Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules (overhauls, periodic inspections) to maximize asset lifespan.

Promptly identify technical anomalies (efficiency drops, compressor vibration, feed-water/WTP fluctuations) before they escalte into failures.

Proactively manage critical spare parts inventory and operational/maintenance budgets.

Support operational readiness preparations for upcoming biomass utility installations as infrastructure development progresses.

Contribute to carbon footprint reduction, energy efficiency programs, and compliance with industry standards (SMK3, PEFC, 5S).

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate engineers and technicians, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols (including third-party contractors).

Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents.

Prepare operational reports, audits, and technical documentation aligned with corporate ISO standards.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification

Proven experience in biomass boiler operations.

Minimum 5 years specifically in boiler and compressor systems operation and maintenance

Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role, managing technical teams

Strong knowledge of boiler and compressor design, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures

Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations, including pressure equipment directives and occupational safety requirements

Proficiency in using maintenance management systems and technical documentation software

Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical expertise to diagnose and resolve equipment issues

Strong communication skills in English

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder relationships

Knowledge of energy efficiency optimisation and cost reduction strategies is desirable

Certification in boiler operation, pressure equipment inspection, or related technical certifications is preferred
