Job summary

Novotel Makassar Grand Shayla is seeking an experienced AV Technician to install, operate and maintain audio-visual equipment for meetings, conferences, and special events. You will set up, test and oversee sound, lighting, projection and video systems to ensure flawless execution.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in AV tech or related field is highly advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years of professional AV operations in luxury hotel or high-end events.
• Experience operating/maintaining AV for conferences, weddings, and corporate events.
• Strong knowledge of audio, video, lighting and conferencing systems.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and dismantle AV equipment for events with precision.
• Operate sound, lighting, projection, video, and LED displays during live events.
• Manage live audio mixing and video switching for smooth execution.
• Configure and support Zoom, Teams, and hybrid meeting platforms.
• Conduct pre-event checks and ensure all gear is functional.
• Provide on-site support for VIP guests and high-profile events.
• Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with contractors for major repairs.

Job Description

• Set up, operate, and dismantle professional audio-visual equipment for meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets, entertainment events, and special functions with precision and efficiency.
• Operate sound, lighting, projection, video systems, and LED displays during live events to ensure smooth, professional execution and optimal visual and audio quality.
• Manage live audio mixing, video switching, and lighting during events, balancing audio levels and adjusting settings as needed.
• Configure and support video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and similar systems) for hybrid and virtual meetings.
• Ensure all equipment is properly connected and fully functional before events or presentations, conducting pre-event checks and room setups against Banquet Event Orders.
• Provide professional on-site technical support for VIP guests, executive meetings, and high-profile events, remaining on standby during events to resolve any technical issues promptly.
• Assist and instruct guests, presenters, and event organizers regarding proper usage and operation of AV equipment, offering tailored solutions to meet their needs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections of all AV equipment to ensure reliability, longevity, and optimal performance across all systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to microphones, speakers, mixers, projectors, LED screens, displays, video conferencing systems, and other AV equipment in a timely manner.
• Diagnose faults, perform basic repairs, and coordinate with external AV suppliers or contractors for major repairs when necessary, ensuring all work meets organizational standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment while adhering to all health, safety, and operational procedures, including proper cable management and equipment handling.
• Coordinate effectively with Events, Banquets, Entertainment, IT, and Engineering teams to ensure all technical requirements are delivered seamlessly and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Audio Visual Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Sound Technology, or a related technical discipline is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in audio-visual operations within a luxury hotel, resort, or high-end event environment.
• Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining AV equipment for events, conferences, weddings, entertainment programs, and corporate functions.
• Strong working knowledge of professional audio, video, lighting, and conferencing systems, including installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to install, operate, and maintain AV equipment such as PA systems, mixers, amplifiers, projectors, LED screens, microphones (wired and wireless), lighting consoles, and video displays.
