Job summary

Flex seeks an experienced AOI/AXI Engineer to support SMA production as part of SpinCo, focusing on design for manufacturing and cost-efficient processes for high-volume electronics manufacturing. You will drive SPI/AOI/AXI optimization, improve yield, and evaluate new inspection technologies to ensure production excellence.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in AOI/AXI or related roles, strong analytical skills, and solid communication, with working knowledge of IPC 610 and lean manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering fields or above.
• 5+ years of experience as AOI/AXI/Manufacturing/Process Engineer in electronics manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Drive preparation and optimization in SPI/AOI/AXI programs for mass production and product transfer.
• Sustain improvement in AOI/AXI FPY and reduce false calls/escapes.
• Evaluate and introduce new SPI/AOI/AXI equipment aligned with business requirements.
• Provide technical support to MES and QCC on SMA processes to improve quality yield.
• Introduce advanced SPI/AOI/AXI tech to SMT production for manufacturing excellence.
• Develop and implement cost-effective production processes for volume production.

Job description

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

About the role

This position will be responsible for providing SMT related technical support to SMA production to facilitate design for manufacturing in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The role supports SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and perform preparation, optimization in SPI/AOI/AXI program or documents activities to facilitate manufacturing in mass production and Product Transfer.
• Drive to sustain improvement in AOI/AXI FPY for increasing and AOI/AXI false call/escapee rate for reducing.
• Evaluate and introduce new SPI/AOI/AXI or equivalent inspection equipment aligned with business requirements. Validate and qualify production lines to enhance productivity.
• Provide technical support to MES (Manufacturing Execution System), QCC (Quality and Claims Control) on SMA processes related to improving quality yield.
• Introduce advanced SPI/AOI/AXI technology into SMT production to achieve manufacturing excellence.
• Develop and implement cost effective, efficient production processes for Volume Production.

About you

• University degree or above in areas of Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, etc.
• Profound knowledge and skills on SMA related production and practice of Power Modules as per process, productivity, Industrial Engineering or Lean Production.
• At least 5 years working experience as AOI/AXI Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer in electronics manufacturing is preferred.
• Independent self-motivated and well organized with analytical mind.
• Good communication skills and data analysis skills.
• Workable English in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing.
• Good knowledge on IPC 610 standard is a plus.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Flex power module products and processes is preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.
