Job summary

PT Datra Internusa is hiring an AI Engineer to design, build, deploy, and maintain a shared AI and automation platform for core business processes. You will create internal AI applications, assistants, and workflows with LLMs, embedding, and retrieval-augmented generation, ensuring reliability and security in production.

You will integrate with databases, CRM, ERP, and other approved systems, and own end-to-end delivery from prototype to live operation with audit trails and cost awareness.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of software engineering or related technical experience.
• Hands-on experience building an LLM-based system in production.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases; PostgreSQL preferred.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations.
• Knowledge of authentication, permissions and secure session handling.
• Ability to build practical internal tools, dashboards, and approval interfaces without a designer.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, Docker, cloud deployment, and basic Linux/Unix administration.
• Experience with LLM APIs, prompt and context design, embeddings, semantic search, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Professional working proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain APIs, webhooks, and data pipelines with audit trails.
• Inventory and classify data across data sources into structured, searchable sources with access controls.
• Capture usage, failures, corrections, and feedback as structured data for regression tests.
• Apply role-based access control and store credentials in secret-management systems.
• Maintain architecture decisions and recovery procedures in docs.

Job description

Datra is building a shared AI and automation platform for its core business processes, including sales, operations, finance, projects, procurement, and corporate functions. The AI Engineer will design, build, deploy, and maintain that platform and the applications that run on it. The platform will provide reusable integrations, approved company knowledge, persistent context, access controls, evaluation, monitoring, and audit trails. This is a hands-on applied engineering role focused on working directly with business teams and remaining responsible for solutions after launch, including user adoption, reliability, security, cost, and measured business impact.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build internal AI applications, assistants, and workflow automations using LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, tool calling, and document processing.
• Turn prototypes into secure, stable applications used in day-to-day operations with clear interfaces for review, approval, correction, and escalation.
• Build agents for defined business functions, starting with customer service, assembling instructions, approved knowledge, relevant context, memory, tools, permissions, and escalation paths.
• Implement multi-step workflows with state management, error handling, retries, and safe recovery.
• Connect AI applications to Datra's databases, product catalogues, CRM, ERP, Google Workspace, WhatsApp, websites, and other approved systems.
• Build and maintain APIs, webhooks, and data pipelines while maintaining audit records showing what the system did, which information it used, and who approved the action.
• Inventory and classify relevant data across spreadsheets, drives, databases, and operational systems, consolidating approved data into structured, searchable sources with clear ownership and access controls.
• Capture usage, failures, corrections, and user feedback as structured data, turning real failure cases into permanent regression tests.
• Apply role-based access control and least-privilege permissions, storing credentials and API keys in approved secret-management systems.
• Maintain technical and operating documentation for every deployed system, recording architecture decisions, trade-offs, dependencies, known limitations, and recovery procedures.

About you

• At least 2 years of experience in software engineering, full-stack development, data engineering, or a comparable applied technical role.
• Personal responsibility for building, deploying, and maintaining at least one LLM-based system used by real users in production.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases; PostgreSQL is preferred.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations.
• Knowledge of authentication, permissions, and secure session handling.
• Ability to build practical internal tools, dashboards, and approval interfaces without relying on a dedicated designer.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, Docker, cloud deployment, and basic Linux or Unix administration.
