Job summary

The Princess Cruises team is seeking a 1st Commis Chef for PT Alpha Magsaysay in Indonesia to support the Sous Chef and Chef de Partie in delivering exceptional culinary experiences at sea.

The role requires basic food preparation knowledge, safety and hygiene discipline, and the ability to work in a large multinational environment aboard a cruise ship. Prior culinary experience and good English skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in a culinary role as Commis Chef or similar.
• Basic food prep, presentation, and preservation knowledge.
• Familiar with food safety and sanitation rules.
• Ability to meet daily production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist Sous Chef and Chef de Partie in producing dishes.
• Follow recipes, production schedules and minimize waste.

Key Responsibilities

• The 1st Commis Chef is responsible for assisting the Sous Chef and Chef de Partie in producing and delivering the best culinary experience at sea.
• The role requires a strong understanding of international cuisine, recipes and culinary processes and food safety practices.
• Job responsibilities include adhering to company recipes, daily production schedules, demonstrating an ongoing understanding of the ingredient consumption required for daily production to minimize food waste during production.
• The role also requires demonstrating commitment to safety, compliance with international regulations and Company standards, and upholding the company's values while maintaining professional relationships, and promoting a harassment-free environment.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• At least 1 to 2 year of prior work experience in a culinary environment as Commis Chef or similar roles.
• Culinary related education (Preferred).
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, presentation, and preservation.
• Basic knowledge of Public Health, Food Safety and Sanitation regulations and procedures.
• Ability to organize and complete work by deadlines.
• Good English language skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work in a large multinational environment.
