Job summary

Hospital Authority on Hong Kong Island invites applications for Theatre Assistant (Patient Care Assistant I) at Queen Mary Hospital, within the Operation Theatre Service. The role supports patient care in the operating theatre and recovery area, handles instruments, and assists in preparation and positioning for procedures.

Applicants must complete the Corporate Patient Care Assistant training, have at least 3 years of related experience, and hold or be eligible for a steam sterilizer license;

Qualifications

• F.5 with passes in Chinese and English or S.5 with HKDSE passes.
• Completed Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Theatre Assistant) Training Program.
• At least 3 years’ relevant work experience.
• Possess steam sterilizer license if required by the job.
• Able to speak Cantonese, read/write Chinese and English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care in operating theatre and recovery room.
• Prepare, issue and handle surgical instruments and equipment.
• Prepare surgical consumables and restock after use.
• Assist in patient positioning.
• Transfer and transport of patients and items.
• Reprocess (Cleaning/Disinfection/ Sterilization) instruments.
• Control inventory of instruments and equipment.
• Assist to train junior staff.
• Perform clerical tasks if required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
