Job summary

Saint Francis University in Hong Kong is seeking a Technician in the Irene Lam Department of Design to support teaching, research and service. The role involves maintaining facilities and classrooms, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth operation of computing, AV and teaching equipment.

You will perform housekeeping, stay up-to-date with media production software, provide technical advice, and may work outside normal hours including weekends to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

• Proficient in English and Chinese (Putonghua preferred).
• Good computer knowledge and experience with MS Office, photo/video editing software and e-learning system.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Willingness to work outside regular hours including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for teaching, research and service in the Department of Design.
• Maintain daily operation and inventory of facilities and equipment in classrooms and studios.
• Assist in setting up, operating and maintaining computing, AV and teaching equipment.
• Perform general housekeeping in classrooms and studios.
• Keep up-to-date knowledge of media production software and related technologies and provide technical support.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head or delegates.

Technician, Irene Lam Department of Design

• provide support for teaching, research and service to the Department of Design; performing regular maintenance and upkeep of all facilities in running order in the classrooms and studios;
• maintain the daily operation and managing the inventory of the facilities and equipment in the of the classrooms and studios;
• assist in the setting up, operation and maintenance of the computing, audio visual and other teaching equipment;
• perform general housekeeping in classrooms and studios;
• maintain up-to-date knowledge of media production software and related technologies, and provide technical support and advice on their use; and
• perform any other duties assigned by the Department Head, Programme Leaders or his delegates.

The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and on Saturdays and Sundays due to specific operational requirements.

Applicants should have

• good computer knowledge and experience in using application software such as MS Office, photo/video editing software and e-learning system, etc.; and
• be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua); have good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and also the ability to work independently.
