Job summary

The Centre for Oncology and Immunology invites applications for a Technical Officer / Senior Research Assistant, to commence as soon as possible on a fixed-term basis in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park. The role includes managing laboratory instruments, training staff, maintaining safety and contributing to procurement and administrative tasks.

Candidates should hold a Master’s degree or above (PhD preferred for Senior Technical Officer) with at least 5 years of relevant experience, plus

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or above in Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry or related disciplines with at least 5 years’ experience.
• Experience with mass spectrometry, proteomics, LC or organic synthesis preferred.
• PhD holders with relevant experience may be considered for Senior Technical Officer.
• Good command of written and spoken English; strong communication skills; team player; self-motivated; organized; detail-minded; hardworking; willing to learn new techniques; able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Job Responsibilities

Applications are invited for appointment as Technical Officer / Senior Research Assistant (Ref.: 104132), to commence as soon as possible, on a fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.

Expected duties include the following:

• manage instruments in the laboratory
• deliver training to new staff and students
• ensure the laboratory remains organized and adheres to safety standards
• support the team with procurement, inventory management and various administrative responsibilities

Qualifications and Skills:

• Applicants should possess a master’s degree or above, preferably in Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry or related disciplines, with at least 5 years relevant experience
• Prior work experience in mass spectrometry, proteomics, liquid chromatography or organic synthesis is preferred
• Experience working in a tertiary institution will be considered an asset
• A PhD degree holder with relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Technical Officer
• The applicants should have a good command of written and spoken English and strong communication skills, team player, self‑motivated, organized, detail‑minded, hardworking, willing to learn new techniques, and able to work well in a multidisciplinary team

The appointee shall work in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.
