Job summary

Ambition, a leading financial institution in Hong Kong, is seeking a System Engineer (Linux) to join its critical operations team. The role focuses on supporting Linux servers and ensuring high availability for banking and trading platforms, with a monthly salary range of HK$40k–HK$55k plus discretionary bonus.

You will perform Linux administration, incident response, and collaborate with application, database, network, and cybersecurity teams.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science or relevant.
• Experience in Linux system administration or infrastructure operations.
• Hands-on experience with RHEL for administration.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting production environments with high availability and strict uptime requirements.

• Provide L1/L2 support for Linux servers supporting mission-critical banking and trading platforms.
• Monitor infrastructure availability, system performance, and operational health to meet SLA requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and support major incident management.
• Perform Linux administration including patching, upgrades, user management, security hardening, and backup validation.

• Experience supporting production environments with high availability and strict uptime requirements.
• Familiarity with Shell/Bash scripting and basic automation.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ELK, Zabbix, Grafana, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of VMware and enterprise backup solutions is preferred.
• Experience supporting mission-critical systems within investment banking, securities, financial services, or other regulated environments is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure during production incidents.
• Cantonese and English speaking is a must
