Job summary

FWD Group invites an experienced software engineer to join the Employee Benefit technology team in Hong Kong. You will analyse business requirements, design scalable backend solutions with Java/Spring Boot, and lead development, testing, deployment, and production support across the SDLC.

You will drive modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, DevOps, and AI-assisted development tools, to improve delivery quality and speed while collaborating with stakeholders and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/IT/SE or related
• Minimum 5 years of application development experience
• Strong knowledge of Java ecosystem and security
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools is a plus

PURPOSE

To bridge business requirements and technology solutions with the focus on Employee Benefit business by analysing, designing, implementing, and supporting systems that improve business efficiency and user experience

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and maintainable technology solutions
• Lead application design, development, testing, deployment, and support activities throughout the SDLC
• Ensure solution quality through effective design reviews, testing, documentation, and adherence to engineering standards
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to deliver projects and enhancements successfully
• Participate in Agile delivery processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Drive adoption of DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted development practices to improve delivery efficiency and software quality
• Support production systems and ensure timely resolution of incidents and operational issues
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing support to team members and vendors
• Recommend solution designs, integration approaches, and implementation strategies that align with business objectives and enterprise standards
• Address any communication gaps between product owners, designers, quality assurances, etc. to minimize the knowledge gap and deliver the solutions with the right mutual understanding and logics
• Manage to achieve No "Unsatisfactory" result in compliance and security audit
• Manage to close identified improvement items in the compliance and security audit report within the timeline

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of application development experience
• Candidates with equivalent qualifications and relevant experience will also be considered

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

Core Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API, and enterprise application development
• Strong understanding of database design, SQL, and application integration
• Understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and secure coding practices
• Familiarity with Agile software development lifecycle and engineering best practices
• Experience with source code management, code review, and quality assurance processes
• Good command in both written & spoken English or Cantonese (Mandarin)

AI & Modern Engineering Skills

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or similar solutions) for code generation, code review, documentation, and testing and productivity improvement
• Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to improve delivery effectiveness and software quality

Preferred Technical Skills

• Experience with front-end technologies such as React
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD and devops practices
• Experience with workflow or workpost engines etc.
