Job summary

Mass Transit Railway is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and technical tasks for passenger train mechanical systems. You will develop drawings, propose changes, and ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency of the system.

You will also coordinate interfaces with existing systems and work with internal and external stakeholders, while assisting in investigations of rolling stock issues and supporting testing and commissioning activities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant design experience.
• Solid experience in fault investigation and non-destructive testing is an advantage.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua) is required.

• Develop working drawings and propose design changes for safe, reliable, and efficient systems.
• Coordinate technical interfaces between existing systems and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in investigations of rolling stock operation and maintenance issues.
• Review specifications, attend factory tests, site inspections, and support testing and commissioning activities.

• Assist in designing changes, developing technical and working drawings for implementation, as well as conducting studies and proposing solutions for a safe, reliable and efficient system
• Coordinate technical interfaces between existing systems and work with internal and external stakeholders
• Assist in investigation for rolling stock operational and maintenance issues
• Review technical specifications, assess project design submissions, attend factory tests, and site inspections as well as support testing and commissioning activities

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• A minimum of 3 years' relevant design experience
• Solid experience in fault investigation, non-destructive testing, rolling stock design and information technology is an advantage
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)

Remarks

• Frequent travel to Chinese Mainland and other countries is required
• Appointment will be made on two-year renewable contract terms
