Job summary

APJ Hong Kong is seeking a Solution Architect (Application Architecture) to define and govern target architecture, technology roadmaps, and engineering standards across multiple systems and teams.

You will drive architectural decisions, review designs, and provide technical direction to backend, frontend, mobile, QA, and DevOps groups. A 15-year track record in enterprise software architecture is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of software engineering experience with solution architecture and technical leadership across large-scale enterprise apps.
• Strong expertise in Java 17+ and related ecosystem; experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain target architecture, technology roadmap, engineering standards, and governance.
• Exercise final authority on architectural decisions and cross-system alignments with business strategy.
• Produce architecture diagrams, high-level designs, API specs, and security architecture.
• Partner with Tech leads to review designs and provide technical direction across teams.
• Own security, privacy, regulatory compliance, resilience, and production operations.
• Directly coach staff, manage release readiness, and drive reduction of technical debt.
• Participate in on-call rotation, incident investigation, and post-incident RCA.
• Coordinate ad-hoc production deployments with validation, approval, and rollbacks.

You will be involving…

Define and maintain the target architecture, technology roadmap, engineering standards, and governance model across multiple systems and delivery teams.

Exercise final authority over architectural decisions, technical trade-offs, design exceptions, and cross-system dependencies, ensuring alignment with business strategy.

Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, high-level designs (HLDs), Architecture Decision Records, integration and API specifications, security architecture, data-flow diagrams, non-functional requirements, technology roadmaps, and technical risk assessments.

Partner with Tech Leads on implementation design and sprint-level technical leadership; review and approve designs prepared by Tech Leads and developers before implementation.

Provide actionable technical direction to backend, mobile, frontend, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams, ensuring allocated development work is technically sound, feasible, and consistent with approved architecture.

Work closely with senior management, Business Analysts, Scrum Masters, product stakeholders, vendors, and external system owners to present options, costs, risks, dependencies, and recommended decisions.

Own architecture for security, privacy, regulatory compliance, resilience, high availability, disaster recovery, performance, scalability, observability, and operational supportability.

Directly manage, coach, and develop assigned technical staff; oversee major release readiness, lead architecture-level incident investigation and RCA, and drive reduction of recurring issues and technical debt.

Participate in the production on-call rota, lead incident troubleshooting and impact assessment, and coordinate timely resolution with development, platform, vendor, and business teams.

Coordinate and handle ad-hoc content deployments to production, ensuring appropriate validation, approval, traceability, and rollback readiness.

Perform ad-hoc production checks and support Platform Team operational tasks, including health verification, dependency checks, access or configuration review, and post-deployment validation as required.

We are looking for…

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.

Minimum 15 years of software engineering experience, including extensive solution architecture and technical leadership experience across large-scale enterprise applications.

Strong expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Microservices, REST APIs, Event-Driven Architecture, and Enterprise Integration Patterns.

Solid knowledge of MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQTT, and related technologies.

Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and production operations.

Excellent knowledge of system security, OAuth2/OIDC, encryption, identity management, high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance best practices.

Proven experience in stakeholder management, technical leadership, and communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing technical direction across multiple projects and product teams.

Nice to have…

Experience in enterprise system modernisation and cloud transformation initiatives.

Exposure to mobile architecture, public cloud platforms, and large-scale distributed systems.

Experience working with highly regulated environments and external delivery partners.Cantonese and/or Mandarin communication skills.
