Job summary

APJ Software (HK) Company Limited is seeking a Technical Lead (Mobile & Backend) in Hong Kong to define and maintain the system architecture, including performance, security, and scalability considerations. You will review high-level designs for integrations and provide hands-on support for complex design and code reviews.

You will oversee release readiness, coordinate go/no-go decisions, and drive RCA for critical incidents while promoting observability and runbooks to reduce recurring issues.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong background in system architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with mobile applications (iOS/Android) and backend integrations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain end-to-end system architecture, including non-functional requirements (performance, security, scalability, availability) and key technical trade-offs.
• Define and review high-level design (HLD) for integrations (APIs, events, data flows), ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, integration patterns, and security requirements.
• Translate architecture decisions into clear guidance for implementation, and provide targeted hands-on support for complex design, code review, and technical spikes as needed.
• Oversee technical release readiness, including dependency alignment, readiness checks, and go/no-go decisions, ensuring smooth deployment and rollback strategies.
• Lead troubleshooting on critical technical issues and incidents: perform impact assessment, drive root cause analysis (RCA), and coordinate resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
• Improve engineering operational excellence by promoting observability, alerting, runbooks, and continuous improvements to reduce recurring incidents.
• Ensure alignment across backend, mobile, QA, and DevOps on technical approach, architecture decisions, and delivery risks.
• Act as the key technical point of contact for the scrum team, ensuring alignment across backend, mobile, QA, and DevOps on technical approach and delivery risks.

We are looking for…

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

15+ years of software engineering experience

Strong experience in system architecture, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations

Solid knowledge of REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and API lifecycle management

Experience with mobile applications (iOS/Android) and mobile-backend integrations

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD pipelines, and release management

Strong troubleshooting and production support experience

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Nice to have…

Cloud-native architecture and Kubernetes experience

Experience with App Store / Google Play release processes

Knowledge of observability tools, APM, distributed tracing, and centralized logging

Experience with OAuth2, OIDC, mTLS, and security best practices

Exposure to vendor management and external delivery partners
