Job summary

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited in Hong Kong is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join the Markets Systems Technology team. You will contribute to first-in-class systems for trading and market data, focusing on low-latency, high-throughput solutions across derivative markets.

You will work closely with trading, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams, take ownership of project delivery, and participate in rostered evening or overnight production support as needed.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in C++ programming.
• Strong knowledge of derivatives products and trading mechanisms.
• Experience in designing high-resilience, low-latency systems.
• Willingness to work irregular evening/overnight shifts.
• Good command of English; Chinese or Putonghua also acceptable.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Software Engineer to join our Markets Systems Technology team. Our team develops first-in-class systems for trading, market data dissemination, and surveillance monitoring across cash and derivatives markets at HKEX. We play a critical role in the full software development lifecycle, including architecture design, development, testing, and implementation of mission-critical systems. Job Duties:

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for low latency system development of exchange derivatives trading system Rostered shifts, including occasional evening / overnight duty supporting production systems
• Support the investigation and resolution of production incidents
• Collaborate with trading team to define solution based on business use cases
• Take full ownership and accountability of project delivery
• Manage projects with complex stakeholders that involve internal, external parties and regulators
• Assess technological risk and drive mitigation actions
• Collaborate with technology teams on activities with common systems impacts
• Drive technical excellence across the teams
• Uphold compliance with organization policies and standards

Requirements:

• Solid experience in C++ programming
• Strong knowledge of derivatives products and trading mechanisms
• Experience in system design and development of high resilience, low latency and high throughput system
• Ability and willingness to work occasional evening / overnight shift as part of scheduled team roster.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication skills to work with complex stakeholders, including infrastructure, information security and trading teams
• Good understanding of cyber security risk and technology control
• Strong interest in technologies and able to understand new technologies in detail very quickly
• Good command of written and spoken English, Chinese or Putonghua
