Job summary

Lumentum seeks a highly motivated Senior Staff, Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and optimization of optical communication products and manufacturing processes. You will lead mechanical design and analysis, validate designs with robust testing, and collaborate with electrical, optical, and manufacturing teams to ensure integration and manufacturability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of mechanical design and development experience in optical, telecommunications, or semiconductor industries.
Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) and FEA for stress, thermal, and vibration.

Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design and analysis of new product concepts, components, and assemblies using CAD and FEA.
Develop and implement robust testing methodologies to validate mechanical designs and performance.
Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, optical, manufacturing, and reliability teams for integration and manufacturability.
Conduct root cause analysis for mechanical failures and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
Generate detailed engineering documentation including specifications, drawings, test plans, and reports.
Participate in design reviews, providing technical feedback.
Evaluate and select materials and manufacturing processes for components.
