Job summary

Chubb Insurance Hong Kong is seeking a Staff or Principal Software Engineer to own end-to-end technical architecture for one or more markets. This senior IC role writes production code, mentors engineers, and raises engineering standards across a Java/JavaScript stack in Asia.

The team builds policy, claims, and agent portals, with middleware, APIs, and regulatory reporting components. Strong leadership and cloud experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, IT, or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with at least two years in a senior technical leadership capacity.
• Experience shipping code in production across frontend, web servers, core systems and integration layers.
• Experience developing web applications in production in a public cloud environment.
• Expertise in one or more server-side languages (Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, C#, Rust).
• Strong understanding of Agile software engineering practices and teamwork.
• Experience using workflow management software (Jira, ServiceNow, BMC).
• Familiarity with Linux-based servers, containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the system and solution architecture for your market(s) including front-end apps, middleware, APIs, and policy systems.
• Lead design decisions, promote test-driven development, and align with global patterns.
• Write high-quality production code in complex areas and mentor engineers.
• Drive feature development with multiple stakeholders across local and global teams.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and 12-factor deployment in cloud environments.
• Foster continuous learning, conduct code reviews, and champion engineering excellence.
