Job summary

Advanced Micro Integrations, a biomedical device start-up at HK science park, invites a Senior Research Engineer to join our R&D team. You will drive firmware architectures for ARM MCUs, BLE protocols, and energy-efficient designs for implantable and wearable neuromodulation devices, aiming at safe, high-performance medical applications.

You will collaborate with hardware, biomedical, and clinical researchers to enable firmware-hardware integration, validate designs, and produce documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer/Electronic Engineering, or related fields.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with embedded systems and medical device development.
• Hands-on ARM MCUs and BLE protocol experience; mobile app development experience is a plus.
• Strong power management and energy efficiency design knowledge.
• Ability to read schematics and perform hardware-software co-design.
• Proficiency with diagnostic test equipment and debugging tools.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop firmware architectures for ARM-based MCUs for neurostimulation applications.
• Design BLE communication protocols with secure, low-latency data transmission.
• Develop energy-efficient hardware-software co-design strategies for implantable/wearable devices.
• Create mobile apps serving as interfaces and clinical control platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware, biomedical, and clinical teams for system integration.
• Execute debugging, testing, validation, and regulatory-aligned documentation.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Research Engineer to join our R&D team in pioneering next-generation neurostimulation technologies. This role focuses on cutting-edge research, advanced system design, and translational development of implantable and wearable medical devices aimed at transforming neuromodulation therapies.

• Research and develop novel firmware architectures for ARM-based microcontrollers tailored to high-precision, safety-critical neurostimulation applications.
• Research and design of advanced Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication protocols, ensuring secure, reliable, and ultra-low-latency data transmission for real-time medical device control.
• Research and develop on super low-power management strategies, including innovative hardware-software co-design techniques to achieve extended battery life and optimized energy efficiency in implantable-grade systems.
• Research, design, and develop intuitive mobile applications that serve as advanced user interfaces and clinical control platforms for the neurostimulation device, incorporating human-centered design principles and real-time data visualization.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, biomedical, and clinical research teams to co-design seamless firmware-hardware integration, sensor interfacing, and peripheral control systems.
• Design and execute rigorous debugging, testing, and validation protocols using state-of-the-art tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and custom test benches) to ensure compliance with medical safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Generate high-quality technical documentation, research reports, design specifications, and validation data to support intellectual property filings, regulatory submissions, and peer-reviewed publications.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related disciplines
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with ARM microcontrollers and BLE protocols
• Experience in mobile app development
• Strong understanding of low-power design principles for embedded systems
• Strong knowledge of electronics, including reading schematics and circuit design
• Proficiency in using test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, etc.)
• Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills
