Job summary

Leadingnation’s Office for Advancement of Learning and Teaching seeks a Multimedia Technology Officer (ALTO) in Hong Kong to lead AI-enabled learning initiatives and oversee AI systems development and integration. The role requires strong leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and deep knowledge of modern web technologies and AI frameworks.

The appointee will manage vendors, budgets, and IT governance while driving innovation across university-wide IT projects and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI or related discipline.
• 10+ years of post‑qualification IT project management and app development experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern web technologies and AI applications.
• Leadership in vendor management, budget planning and IT governance.
• Ability to translate academic requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives using new technologies, including AI in learning and teaching.
• Oversee design, development, and maintenance of AI systems.
• Evaluate software development lifecycle processes and QA practices.
• Design system architectures and manage servers and cloud infrastructure.
• Manage procurement and tendering of IT hardware, software, and cloud services.
• Supervise managers and systems analysts and monitor tasks.
• Conduct in-house training and support staff development.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the Director.

Multimedia Technology Officer (ALTO) (Ref: 26001X6)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

• Taking the lead to implement new initiatives by applying the latest technologies, includingArtificial Intelligence (AI) in learning and teaching;
• Overseeing the design, development, enhancement and maintenance of AI Systems;
• Evaluating software development lifecycle processes, workflows, standards, and quality-assurance practices;
• Designing system architectures, configuring and managing servers and cloud infrastructure;
• Managing the procurement and tendering of IT hardware, software, and cloud services;
• Supervising Managers and Systems Analysts, and monitoring their assigned tasks;
• Conducting in-house training and assisting in the provision of professional development for University staff;
• Undertaking other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the Office for Advancement of Learning and Teaching and his/her nominees.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience, and competence:

• A recognized bachelor's degree in Computer Science Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years' relevant post‑qualification experience in IT project management and application development, preferably in higher education institutions;
• In-depth knowledge of modern web technologies, including Python, Node.js, TypeScript, Vue.js/React, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), LMS platforms, and AI applications;
• Strong expertise in driving AI applications and integration strategy, with practical experience in leveraging LLMs, Machine Learning technologies, and modern AI frameworks to solve academic/institutional problems.
• Strong leadership in vendor management, budget planning, IT governance, and system integration across cross‑functional teams;
• Strong project management skills, communication skills, supervisory skills, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate academic/institutional requirements into technical solutions.
