Job summary

The Hong Kong Institute Of Bankers is seeking a Senior Manager, Human Resources to lead day-to-day HR operations and advise the CEO on people-related matters. You will own the full spectrum of HR activities, drive the HR agenda, and partner with the CEO to execute people strategies in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 12+ years of HR experience, strong knowledge of HK employment law, and proven capability in workforce planning, governance, and HR digitalisation.

Qualifications

  • Degree holder in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years’ progressive HR experience, including hands-on leadership of HR operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Hong Kong employment legislation and HR governance practices.
  • Experience in workforce planning, engagement, succession planning and process improvement.
  • Experience in HR digitalisation, HR systems, data analytics or AI-enabled tools.
  • Mature, independent and commercially minded with strong judgement and discretion.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management with excellent English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full employee lifecycle and ensure efficient, compliant and high-quality HR service delivery across the Institute.
  • Act as the primary HR adviser to the CEO by providing HR solutions, workforce insights, governance support and recommendations on people-related matters.
  • Lead staff engagement, recognition, communication and well-being initiatives to enhance employee experience, workplace culture and staff retention.
  • Partner with the CEO and department heads to support workforce planning, talent development and organisational capability building.
  • Coordinate succession planning and talent review initiatives to strengthen leadership continuity and future talent pipelines.
  • Ensure HR policies, practices and controls comply with employment legislation and support effective governance and risk management.
  • Drive HR digitalisation, system enhancements and continuous process improvements to strengthen efficiency, reporting capability and employee experience.
  • Lead, coach and develop the HR team while supporting strategic and ad hoc initiatives assigned by the CEO.

Job description

Job Purpose

The Senior Manager, Human Resources will lead the day-to-day HR function of the Institute and serve as the primary HR adviser to the CEO on people-related matters. The role is expected to take ownership of the full spectrum of HR operations, independently handle HR matters, and execute the Institute’s people agenda in close partnership with the CEO. With the Institute’s people strategy and strategic direction, the appointee will focus on effective execution, operational leadership, continuous enhancement of the HR function, and support for strategic people initiatives sponsored by the CEO.

Job Duties

Job Requirements

Degree holder or above in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.

Minimum 12 years’ progressive HR experience, including hands‑on experience in leading the full spectrum of HR operations and advising senior management.

Strong knowledge of Hong Kong employment legislation and sound HR governance practices.

Proven experience in workforce planning, employee engagement, organisational capability development, succession planning, HR policy review and process improvement.

Experience in HR digitalisation, HR systems, data analytics, automation or AI‑enabled HR tools is an advantage.

Mature, independent and commercially minded, with strong judgement and the ability to handle sensitive HR matters with professionalism and discretion.

Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.

Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
