Job description

Own a product from first idea to the customer’s backyard

Vuly designs and manufactures outdoor play equipment sold around the world. We’re looking for a Senior Industrial Designer in our new Hong Kong office to lead products all the way from research to launch.

You’ll be the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for multiple products at once, and the designer others look to for standards and judgement. You can delegate tasks, but the outcome is yours.

What you’ll actually do
  • Validate the direction. Research the market, develop concepts, and test them with focus groups.
  • Lock it down. Document requirements and specifications in a design agreement signed off by the CEO.
  • Engineer the detail. Drive CAD development with engineers and moulding specialists so the product is manufacturable, safe in every market we sell into, and built to last outdoors.
  • Take it to market. Deliver blueprints, installation manuals, packaging and carton configurations, and coordinate marketing and installation content with photographers, videographers and manufacturers, on schedule.
  • Raise the bar. Mentor designers, review work across the team, and help shape our design standards and processes as the Hong Kong office grows.
What we’re looking for
  • Degree in Industrial or Product Design, or an equivalent commercial portfolio
  • [6]+ years in industrial design, with a track record of products taken through to mass production
  • Strong 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Rhino or Fusion 360) and production-ready technical drawings
  • Design-for-manufacture knowledge, including injection moulding and materials
  • Working knowledge of product safety standards (e.g. AS/NZS, ASTM, EN)
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring other designers
  • Strong project management and clear English communication
  • Experience working directly with manufacturers in China or South-East Asia
  • Outdoor, sporting or children’s product experience
  • Rendering (KeyShot, Blender) and use of AI tools to speed up design work
How you’ll work

Act like an owner: fix problems or raise them early. Bring evidence, make your case, and once direction is set, drive it hard. Success means products that launch on time, are safe, and win in their market.

What we offer
  • Genuine ownership of products sold worldwide
  • Direct exposure to the CEO and product leadership
  • A foundation role in our new Hong Kong office
