Job summary

Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering Team, overseeing all mechanical, electrical and Fire & Life Safety operations and to ensure daily hotel performance with a strong focus on safety and asset protection.

The role requires a degree in Building Services or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, at least 8 years in hotel or building operations, and leadership experience; Chartered Engineer status is preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Services or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering; Chartered Engineer preferred.
• At least 8 years of relevant hotel/building operations experience; leadership role for 3+ years.
• Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering, maintenance, and Fire & Life Safety (FLS) operations of the hotel.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, and work orders with focus on safety and efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance with local fire safety regulations and oversee FLS testing/maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance and FLS training for colleagues.
• Manage and develop the Engineering Team for peak operations.
