Job summary

Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering Team, overseeing all mechanical, electrical and Fire & Life Safety operations and to ensure daily hotel performance with a strong focus on safety and asset protection.

The role requires a degree in Building Services or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, at least 8 years in hotel or building operations, and leadership experience; Chartered Engineer status is preferred.

• Oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, and work orders with focus on safety and efficiency.
• Ensure full compliance with local fire safety regulations and oversee FLS testing/maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance and FLS training for colleagues.
• Manage and develop the Engineering Team for peak operations.

About the Role

As a Chief Engineer, you will be supervising the Engineering Team to ensure daily operations with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all engineering, maintenance, and Fire & Life Safety (FLS) operations of the Hotel.

Ensure preventive maintenance, repair work, and work orders are carried out effectively and efficiently.

Oversee the performance and upkeep of all Hotel facilities, equipment, and plant rooms.

Ensure full compliance with local fire safety regulations and manage the inspection, testing and maintenance of FLS systems.

Provide technical guidance and conduct engineering and FLS training for colleagues.

About You

Degree in Building Services or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; preferably Chartered Engineer.

At least 8 years of relevant experience in Hotel or building operations, including 3 years of experience in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of relevant government ordinances, regulations, and fire safety requirements.

Recognized qualifications in fire safety engineering or related disciplines.

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
