Job summary

hermeneutic research is seeking a seasoned Backend Engineer to build high-performance, cloud-native infrastructure supporting our research, trading, and data pipelines. This role is crucial for real-time data ingestion, low-latency workflows, and high uptime.

You will work with trading, infra, and data teams, bring deep Go experience or equivalent backend depth, and help design, implement, and maintain fast, observable systems in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development in production-grade, high-availability environments.
• 3+ years Go production experience or equivalent backend depth with agentic workflows.
• Strong concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization for Go.
• Experience leading large-scale system design and mentoring engineers.
• Proven track record deploying microservices in HA/high-throughput contexts.
• Knowledge of message queues, event-driven architectures, and async processing.
• Experience with cloud-native apps and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with REST/gRPC service-to-service APIs.
• Proficiency with distributed systems and data storage tech: PostgreSQL, Redis, TSDBs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of high-performance, cloud-native backend systems using Go for real-time processing.
• Improve code quality, best practices, and mentor teammates.
• Leverage AI-assisted workflows to accelerate delivery while owning code quality.
• Collaborate with trading, product, and infra teams to deliver performant solutions.
• Own production services; ensure reliability, observability, and performance tuning.
• Contribute to infrastructure automation and CI/CD improvements.
• Conduct in-depth code reviews and drive engineering standards.
• Deploy and manage services with cloud-native tools.
• Monitor, debug, and troubleshoot production systems; participate in on-call.
