Job summary

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) invites applications for a PhD/MSc‑level role in digital verification and embedded software for 5G/6G R&D. The role covers L1/PHY driver development, DSP/FPGA verification, and test infrastructure setup.

The ideal candidate has training in CS/CE/EE, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of wireless standards; fresh graduates are welcome. Renewable contract with competitive salary and benefits. Five‑day week.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related fields.
• Fresh graduates may be considered.
• Experience in software verification is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills are preferred.
• Knowledge of wireless standards like 5G/6G, ORAN, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth is a plus.
• Experience in Linux platforms and embedded systems is a plus.
• Programming/scripting languages such as Python, C#, Tcl, Matlab are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in verification of PHY DSP/FPGA in 5G/6G R&D projects.
• Develop and maintain L1/PHY driver software for real-time performance.
• Build and maintain test infrastructure for DSP/FPGA verification.
• Set up and verify integrated DSP/FPGA solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Participate in and contribute to physical layer (PHY) DSP/FPGA solution verifications in multiple platforms in ASTRI’s 5G/6G R&D projects.
• Engage in activities including the followings:
• Develop and maintain L1/PHY driver software at real time performance to run Physical Layer for different 5G/6G platforms.
• Develop and maintain test infrastructure software in using equipment for verifying integrated DSP/FPGA.
• Set up and verify the integrated DSP/FPGA solution.
• Track and analyze the verification/testing results.
• Set up and troubleshoot hardware platforms for verification/testing.
• Provide verification support for DSP and FPGA implementation.
• Build up know-hows on 5G/6G standardization.
• Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• PhD or Master’s degree holder in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering, Telecommunications or relevant disciplines.
• Fresh graduates may also be considered.
• Successfully completed the undergraduate/postgraduate program.
• Experience in software verification is preferred.
• Strong in analytical skills are preferred.
• Knowledge of wireless communications standards, such as 5G/6G, ORAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a plus.
• Experiences in Linux platform development, a plus.
• Experiences in embedded system development, a plus.
• Experiences in wireshark plugin development, a plus.
• Experiences in programming/scripting language such as Python, C#, Tcl, Matlab, a plus.
• Has interest in R&D.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked gratuity. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
