Join us at ASTRI - Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute as we seek talented professionals for the role of 5G/6G Protocol and Application Software Design - Principal Engineer / Lead Engineer / Engineer.

Our core R&D areas include Advanced Electronic Components, AI and Trust Technologies, Communications, IoT, and Perception Technologies, applied across sectors like Smart City, FinTech, Industrialization, Digital Health, and Metaverse. We have transferred over 1,500 technologies and hold more than 1,100 patents worldwide.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct R&D in 5G/6G radio access network and intelligent application software to achieve market-leading performance.
• Design and develop 5G/6G mobile systems, including MAC/RRM/SON algorithms, system simulations, and standard compliance verification.
• Develop control and data planes for protocol stacks of 5G/6G base stations.
• Perform system integration, interoperability testing, performance tuning, and verification on 5G/6G base stations.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and system engineers; support customer commercialization efforts.
• Manage R&D projects, including planning, milestones, reporting, and stakeholder communication.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or Telecommunications with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of computer networks, protocols, programming in C/C++, Python, Shell scripting; Linux experience preferred.
• Familiarity with 4G/5G standards, system architecture, and end-to-end testing or field trials preferred.
• Understanding of signal processing, image processing, information theory, numerical analysis, or stochastic processes.
• Experience in R&D project management is a plus.
• Proficiency in English; Cantonese or Putonghua a plus.
• Overseas candidates are welcome; visa sponsorship possible for suitable candidates.
