Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) seeks a Platform Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable platforms for engineers across the business. You will work with portfolio management, technology and data teams to deliver automated, reliable software at scale.
The role emphasizes SRE and DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and cloud/on‑prem environments. You will participate in on-call rotations and mentor teams to improve service stability and resilience.
Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) is a diversified global investment firm founded in 2001 by Dmitry Balyasny, Scott Schroeder, and Taylor O'Malley. With over $38 billion in assets under management, BAM employs more than 2,000 people across 23 offices in the U.S. and Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The firm’s investment teams span five strategies, including Equities Long/Short, Fixed Income & Macro, Commodities, Multi-Asset Arbitrage, and Systematic. Balyasny’s mission is to deliver to its investors absolute, uncorrelated returns in all market environments.
Platform Engineering owns the end-to-end experience of how engineers, investment teams and researchers at Balyasny build, test, ship and run software at scale – from source control and authentication systems that underpin our live trading environments, to the platforms that keep tens of thousands of builds, applications and tasks running reliably across compute providers, and developer acceleration tooling that deeply integrates across engineering workflows.
The primary focus of this role is to design, build and maintain platforms for engineers within the business – from scalable source controls systems through to CICD infrastructure that execute millions of builds per year. You will work with portfolio management, technology, data and business teams to deliver scalable, resilient and automated solutions.
