Barclays is seeking a Senior Developer in QIS Technology to design, develop, and improve software supporting the QIS trading and structuring teams. You will provide local expertise to accelerate issue resolution, onboarding of new datasets and strategies, and align with business requirements.
Required: expert Python, equity derivatives knowledge, market data proficiency, SRE mindset, and experience with Docker/Kubernetes. Desirable: Java, Airflow, Dagster, KDB, Oracle.
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful, you should have: Mandatory: Expert in Python programming Expert in Equity Derivatives knowledge – Futures, Options, Strategies etc Experience working with front office users – trading, quants and structuring Market data knowledge (how it is used in equities front office systems including but not limited to Reuters and Bloomberg) SRE & software quality mindset (ownership, accountability, support) Desirable Derivatives Pricing knowledge – greeks, curves, funding etc Knowledge and experience of Commodities – Futures, Options etc Experience with docker, cloud env and Kubernetes Desirable tech skills such as Java, Airflow, Dagster KDB, Oracle
