Job summary

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is seeking a senior frontend developer to design, develop, and support the data analytics frontend of the new betting system. You will work with Solace messaging, real-time data visualization, and modern frameworks while collaborating with UX/UI designers and cross-functional teams.

You will contribute to scalable, high-performance applications, align with Responsible Gambling policies, and participate in offshore team management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on development experience in frontend and backend.
• Experience with Solace messaging systems, including design and development.
• 5+ years of C#/Java development experience for scalable, high-performance apps.
• Proven ability to manage offshore development teams and work in large cross-functional groups.
• Knowledge of C#, Java, and/or C++, ASP.NET, JavaScript.
• Knowledge of Python, R Studio, MSSQL server.
• Knowledge of Kafka, MongoDB, Kubernetes, Microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support frontend solutions for the data analytics system with Solace integration.
• Develop and maintain frontend components for real-time data visualization.
• Contribute to UI/UX design and architecture for the messaging framework.
• Collaborate with vendor delivery teams to ensure quality and alignment with UX goals.
• Work with other teams to build intuitive frontend features for the data pipeline.
• Develop real-time analytics features on the new platform focusing on performance and usability.
• Ensure compliance with the Responsible Gambling Policy and related requirements.
• Take on additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Summary

Reporting to Senior Trading Manager (Trading and Player Risk), this role is a senior developer role to build and maintain a core component, which is used for assessing player risk and bet value instantaneously, in the new generation of betting system for HKJC.

The primary responsibilities of this role include designing and developing an operational intelligence analytics solution using technologies like Solace/ Kafka, C#/ Java, Kubernetes, and MongoDB, while enhancing existing analytics applications. The role also involves supporting real-time applications, delivering customer insights, developing front-end solutions with modern frameworks, and collaborating with UX/UI designers and stakeholders to create functional, user-friendly interfaces. This position offers the chance to contribute to innovative solutions, supporting the Club's mission to deliver world-class wagering services.

The Job

• Design, develop, integrate, and support frontend solutions for the data analytics system, ensuring seamless interaction with Solace messaging and backend services
• Develop, enhance, and maintain frontend components to visualize and interact with real-time data analytics, addressing new or changing requirements
• Contribute to the design and architecture of a user-friendly interface for the messaging framework, ensuring effective integration with Solace
• Collaborate with vendor delivery teams to ensure their contributions align with the frontend design and user experience goals
• Liaise with other development teams and stakeholders to build intuitive and functional components that meet user requirements and business needs
• Develop and support real-time data analytics features on the new analytics platform, focusing on frontend performance, scalability, and usability
• Ensure compliance with the Responsible Gambling Policy and all relevant legal requirements, integrating appropriate messages and features into frontend applications to align with the Club's standards
• Take on additional duties as assigned by supervisor, contributing to cross-functional initiatives and enhancing frontend systems as part of the overall data pipeline ecosystem

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 3 years of hands-on development experience, with a strong focus on frontend and backend development using modern frameworks and tools
• Experience working with Solace messaging systems, including design and development
• Over 5 years of experience in C#/Java development, with expertise in building scalable and high-performance applications
• Proven experience in managing offshore development teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within large, cross-functional development teams
• Experience collaborating with vendor delivery teams to ensure high-quality deliverables and seamless integration
• Knowledge in C#, Java and/or C++, ASP.NET, JavaScript.
