Job summary

HKEX is recruiting an IT operations specialist to join the Enterprise System Operations team. The role focuses on managing 24x7 operations of HKEX enterprise systems to ensure high availability for market operations.

You will support monitoring, incident handling, deployments, and automation initiatives under guidance. The position emphasizes collaboration with senior operators, development teams, DevOps, and infrastructure groups, with a strong learning curve for scripting and process

Qualifications

• High Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Basic understanding of Linux/Windows and networking.
• Exposure to scripting (Bash/Python/PowerShell) is a plus.
• Familiarity with application servers or databases is advantageous.
• Ability to follow procedures carefully and work in shift-based 24x7 environment.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Enterprise System Operations team under System & Network Operations department is responsible for managing the round-the-clock, 24x7 operations of HKEX enterprise systems. We play a critical role to ensure high system availability for Market operations, while we continuously modernize and enhance the team process to improve operational efficiency and support our future business needs. HKEX is looking for a high calibre candidate as an IT operations specialist to assist the team in achieving its ambitions.

Job Duties

Key Responsibilities

System Monitoring and Management

• Monitor the performance and availability of applications, servers, and systems.
• Use monitoring tools (e.g., TrueSight, SolarWinds) to track system health and performance metrics.
• Assist in identifying basic issues or irregular system behaviors.
• Provide first‑level support under team supervision.

Application Support

• Support the operation of business applications and scheduled jobs.
• Perform routine tasks such as running batch processes, handling deployments, and applying patches under guidance.

Incident Management

• Assist in responding to system and application alerts, incidents, and outages.
• Log, track, and resolve incidents using IT service management (ITSM) tools like ServiceNow.
• Escalate complex issues to senior team member or application development teams as needed.

Automation and Scripting

• Learn to use job scheduling and automation tools (Dollar Universe, CA7, Ansible).
• Assist in simple scripting tasks (Bash, Python, PowerShell) to support operational automation.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain basic documentation of system operation and update daily operational checklists
• Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with senior operators, application development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
• Provide basic support to end-users or internal teams for application-related issues.

Requirements

• High Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Basic understanding of operating systems (Linux/Windows) and networking concepts.
• Exposure to scripting (Bash/Python/PowerShell) is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with application servers or databases is a plus.
• Strong willingness to learn and ability to follow procedures carefully.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Able to work in a shift‑based 24×7 operations environment.
