Job summary

SGS Hong Kong Limited is seeking an Experienced Chemist (Chemical Laboratory) to implement and maintain the laboratory quality system, review test results, and interpret observations in compliance with accreditation requirements.

The role involves developing test methods aligned with international standards, verifying customer testing requests, and calibrating reference standards while applying appropriate statistical techniques to data.

Qualifications

• Degree or above in Chemistry or related disciplines.
• 3 years' relevant product testing laboratory experience.
• Initiative, organized and able to work independently.
• Good command of English and Chinese including Mandarin.
• Candidate with less experience will be considered as Chemist, more experience will be considered as Senior Chemist.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyse test results generated from the laboratory testing activities.
• Interpret test results and observations independently and identify test trends.
• Estimate and report measurement uncertainty for laboratory testing or calibration activities.
• Develop and document test methods and procedures from relevant international standards, meeting both regulatory requirements and customer's needs.
• Verify requests on testing services from customers, the contract testing services and respond to customers with accurate and relevant information in compliance with laboratory/accreditation requirements.
• Calibrate, verify and maintain reference standards against established acceptance criteria and determine storage conditions in a testing/calibration laboratory.
• Validate and verify laboratory-developed/non-standard test method according to the approved validation protocol, interpret and conclude validation data.
• Determine and apply appropriate statistical technique for analyzing valid measurement data.
