Job summary

Arte Bunkering seeks a Mandarin-fluent Senior Bunker Trader based in Shanghai or Hong Kong to spearhead growth in China and greater regional markets. You will own the front-to-back trading cycle, source bunkers, and build a robust client network with shipowners, operators, and charterers.

You will manage end-to-end transactions, monitor market trends, and collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to secure competitive terms, with the freedom to shape the region’s strategy and expansion.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Bunker Trader
• Transferable client portfolio from China and Hong Kong
• High proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) and working proficiency in English
• Strong understanding of shipping, marine fuels, and bunker trading operations
• Excellent organizational, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily back-to-back bunker trading and sourcing operations.
• Identify, develop, and manage a personal client portfolio in China and Hong Kong, including shipowners, operators, and charterers.
• Own the end-to-end trade cycle - from trading and fixture/post-fixture operations through to delivery and payment collection.
• Monitor market trends and supply chain developments to maintain a competitive trading edge.
• Support procurement and sourcing of bunkers for the Chinese market.

We're looking for a driven, Mandarin-fluent Senior Bunker Trader with an established client base and strong network in China, based in Shanghai or Hong Kong. As the first person on the ground, you'll play a key role in driving regional growth: running the full trading cycle, developing new business, and building client relationships, with real ownership over how the region is shaped, supported by the company's proven track record and infrastructure.

• Conduct daily back-to-back bunker trading and sourcing operations.
• Identify, develop, and manage a personal client portfolio in China and Hong Kong, including shipowners, operators, and charterers.
• Own the end-to-end trade cycle - from trading and fixture/post-fixture operations through to delivery and payment collection.
• Monitor market trends and supply chain developments to maintain a competitive trading edge.
• Support procurement and sourcing of bunkers for the Chinese market.

About you

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Bunker Trader; ideally 3-5 years.
• An existing and transferable client portfolio from China and Hong Kong is essential.
• High proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) and working proficiency in English.
• Strong understanding of shipping, marine fuels, and bunker trading operations.
• Excellent organizational, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
