Job summary

Binance Pay & Card team is hiring a Backend Architect to design and build card-related systems end to end. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create scalable, secure infrastructure for card issuance and lifecycle management.

You will lead technical design, define service boundaries, and ensure compliance with payment network standards while delivering reliable, high-throughput systems. This hands-on role requires 8+ years in backend engineering with Java/Spring and a track

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend engineering experience with Java/Spring.
• Direct experience building or maintaining a card system.
• Experience with card certification processes and/or onboarding programs.
• Strong system design and architecture skills for distributed, high-throughput payment infrastructure.
• Understanding of card network standards, payment flows, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain backend systems for card issuing and card lifecycle management
• Lead the technical design and implementation of card certification processes (Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay / Google Pay onboarding programs)
• Define and drive the system architecture, service boundaries, and integration patterns for card platform services
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with payment network standards
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and technical documentation for the team
• Work hands-on — this is a builder role, not a pure advisory position
