Job summary

Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking in Hong Kong is seeking a sharp Java developer to master SG Agile practices and cloud platforms. You will work as an independent contributor delivering technical solutions and fixes on the technology roadmap.

The role requires strong Java (Java 21+), Spring Boot, Docker, and Cloud Native skills, plus experience with Agile, TDD, and CI/CD. You will join Asia's development team based in Hong Kong and collaborate with Front/M Middle Office teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with capacity management, performance monitoring, stress testing and production-resilience practices for high-volume platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate incidents, identify root causes, prioritize remediation and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
• Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills, with ability to clearly communicate with business, operations, risk and technology peers across regions.
• Strong listening and analysis capabilities to assess existing situation/problem definition
• Proven knowledge of Core Java development (Java 21+, Spring Boot)
• Proven experience in Agile, TDD and continuous delivery (Jenkins, Sonar)
• Good knowledge of Domain driven design and Cloud Native applications and Docker
• Knowledge of MongoDB or PostgreSQL, Python 3.9+, Knowledge of UI/UX design and Angular is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Master the SG Agile based software development practices and SG cloud technology platforms
• Demonstrate ability to work independently as individual contributor and deliver technical solutions/fixes
• Deliver on technical roadmap, contribute to team effort in supporting technology platform, resolving production issues and fixes.
• Contribute to code reviews, application testing, code releases, and Level3 production support.
• Proactively enhance monitoring capabilities to reduce problem investigation and resolution time.
• Communicate and report to business stakeholders and IT peers within region and globally as needed.
• Build self-confidence and learn to engage with stake holders to understand their technology needs.
