Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced pre-sales engineer to support sales teams across Hong Kong and APAC. You will qualify opportunities, document customer needs, and present HID-based solutions including access control, credentials, and cloud connectivity.

Responsibilities include delivering product demonstrations, maintaining demo environments, and training partners and end users. Travel across Asia Pacific is required; Cantonese, Mandarin, and English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
• Typically 2–4 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, systems engineering, or related roles.
• Experience in physical security, access control, identity solutions preferred.
• Proficiency with Windows OS and Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, switching, VLAN, DNS, VPN.
• Fluent Cantonese, Mandarin Chinese, and English.
• Willing to travel across Asia Pacific as required.
• Eligible to work in Hong Kong SAR.

Responsibilities

• Support account managers and channel partners in qualifying opportunities and progressing customer discussions
• Conduct requirements discovery for standard opportunities and document customer needs
• Prepare and present solution recommendations using established HID architectures and best practices
• Support technical discussions on access control, credentials, readers, controllers, mobile access, cloud connectivity, and identity-related solutions
• Escalate complex solution design topics to senior Sales Engineering resources
• Deliver product presentations and standard demonstrations to customers, partners, and consultants
• Maintain demo equipment and prepare demo environments for events and customer meetings
• Support trade shows, partner events, customer seminars, and internal enablement sessions
• Provide technical training for system integrators, distributors, consultants, and end users
• Support partner onboarding and explain HID solution positioning and technical requirements
• Share deployment guidance and best practices with partners and customers
• Assist with RFIs, RFPs, tenders, compliance matrices, and technical proposal content
• Review standard system designs and identify gaps, risks, and follow-up questions
• Support proof-of-concept and pilot activities under senior engineer guidance
• Respond to pre-sales technical questions and route unresolved issues through support channels
• Collect customer feedback, competitive information, and field requirements for Sales Engineering leadership
• Collaborate with Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering, Technical Support, sales, consultants, distributors, system integrators, and strategic customers
• Support Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, and other North Asia / Asia Pacific markets as assigned
• Report to the Sales Engineering Director based in Hong Kong

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or another related technical discipline
• Equivalent industry experience may also be considered where appropriate
• Typically 2-4 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, systems engineering, application engineering, technical support, or security technology solutions
• Experience in physical security, access control, low voltage systems, identity solutions, mobile credentials, or related technology is preferred
• Able to independently manage standard technical engagements and collaborate with senior engineers on complex customer or tender requirements
• Strong foundational computer and networking skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
• General IT troubleshooting capability
• Basic database knowledge; SQL knowledge is preferred
• Understanding of TCP/IP, switching and routing fundamentals, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, VPN, and network security basics
• Familiarity with REST API fundamentals and cloud connectivity concepts is preferred
• Knowledge of access control systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, fire alarm, intercom, visitor management, parking systems, BMS, or PSIM is preferred
• Experience with API-based integration, cloud-to-cloud integration, third-party system integration, or building subsystem integration is preferred
• Fluent Cantonese, Mandarin Chinese, and English, spoken and written
• Must be legally eligible to work in Hong Kong SAR
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport
• Must be able to travel throughout Asia Pacific as business needs require
• Must comply with HID policies related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental Management
• Must be capable of working effectively in customer, partner, office, and remote working environments
• Immigration sponsorship is not available; applicants must be currently and legally authorized to reside and work in the hiring country
