Job summary

The Hong Kong Red Cross in Hong Kong is seeking a senior leader to join as Manager, Resource Development within the Marketing & Event Team. Qualifications

  • University degree holder in Marketing, Communications, Business Development or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduation relevant work experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven track record leading multiple teams and managing large-scale fundraising campaigns.
  • Strong communication with senior management and external sponsors at the highest level.
  • Deep understanding of the China market and localization fundraising strategies.
  • Hands-on leadership with NGO experience preferred.
  • Excellent English and Chinese/Cantonese/Putonghua proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head of Communications and shape strategic direction of major fundraising projects.
  • Lead revenue generation, cost effectiveness, and end-to-end planning for campaigns.
  • Manage two sub-teams with mentorship and performance oversight.
  • Drive corporate sponsorship pitches and donor stewardship with key partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors for alignment.
  • Evaluate projects with data-driven recommendations and identify new channels.
  • Develop designs, milestones, budgets, and contingency plans for events.
  • Track projects, manage on-site delivery, and present insights to senior management.
  • Work with senior management on new fundraising strategies leveraging Greater China insights.

Job Purpose

The Marketing & Event Team of our Communications and Resource Development is seeking a high-calibre leader to join as Manager, Resource Development. This role is pivotal in proactively steering the overall strategic management and driving the long-term growth roadmap for diverse, high-impact fundraising projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing two core functional teams, ensuring not only the successful delivery of initiatives but also the continuous evolution of our fundraising ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to the Head of Communications and proactively shape the overall planning, goal setting, and strategic direction of major fundraising projects and related initiatives with a forward-looking, pioneering mindset.
  • Spearhead revenue generation, cost effectiveness, and operational efficiency across all fundraising & marketing projects. This includes foreseeing market trends and leading the end-to-end planning, content preparation, and omni-channel operational support on Direct Mailing, Digital Fundraising, and donor acquisition campaigns.
  • Lead and manage two sub-teams, providing clear direction, mentorship, and performance oversight to ensure team synergy and optimal output.
  • Drive and manage corporate sponsorship pitches, donor stewardship, and relationship building with key external partners. Actively engage with C-suite executives and key stakeholders to secure critical resources for high-stake events.
  • Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal departments, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution and strategic alignment across all projects.
  • Oversee the evaluation of existing projects/campaigns with a strategic lens, proactively giving data-driven recommendations to streamline processes, identifying emerging fundraising channels (with a particular focus on the China market), and developing innovative project models that align with regional growth.
  • Formulate comprehensive designs and blueprints for complex projects and events, developing project milestones, budget plans, resource plans, personnel plans, and contingency plans to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Lead project tracking, onsite management, post-event reporting, high-level data analysis, revenue figure presentation, and staff performance evaluation, regularly presenting actionable insights to senior management.
  • Partner proactively with senior management in the formulation and implementation of new fundraising strategies and growth initiatives, bringing market intelligence from the Greater China region to the decision-making table.
Requirements
  • University degree holder, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Business Development or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduation relevant work experience, in which at least 3 years at managerial level, preferably in large-scale event management and high-value fundraising campaigns
  • Proven track record in managing and motivating at least two teams simultaneously, with the ability to mobilize, mentor, and lead diverse team members toward shared goals
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional abilities in communicating with the management team, and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders/corporate sponsors at the highest level
  • Strategic, proactive, and forward-thinking mindset, upholding a can-do spirit while demonstrating the foresight to identify opportunities and mitigate risks before they arise
  • In-depth understanding of the China market and its fundraising/consumer landscape, with the ability to develop localized strategies that drive penetration and engagement.
  • Hands-on experience in team management and leadership is a must. Prior working experience in an NGO will be an advantage
  • Excellent command of both written and oral English, Chinese/Cantonese/Putonghua

Contract Period
