Job summary

WATI.io in Hong Kong seeks an Agentic Engineer – Voice AI to build and scale real-time voice AI capabilities on WhatsApp. You will design systems that listen, think, and speak in real time, connecting ASR, LLM, and TTS into a seamless conversational flow.

You will optimize latency, work with WebRTC, LiveKit, and Opus codecs, and integrate OpenAI Realtime API and Gemini Live. Collaboration with product teams will ensure scalable, reliable voice experiences for customers globally.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience with backend focus.
• Experience with real-time voice or media pipelines is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI model integration and speech technologies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize real-time voice AI pipelines from media transport to inference and synthesis.
• Integrate frontier AI models and orchestrate cascade architectures for ASR → LLM → TTS.
• Develop and maintain media infrastructure including LiveKit and audio routing.
• Enhance end-to-end latency and reliability of voice AI systems across regions.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to deliver production-grade voice experiences on WhatsApp.
