Job summary

Wati, the world's leading WhatsApp-first conversational growth platform, seeks a Backend Software Engineer with a strong background in AI and real-time audio to join our engineering team in China. You will build and optimize communication features that power high-quality, low-latency conversations for our global customers.

Design and implement real-time audio/video streaming services, work with WebRTC, SIP, RTP, and collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to deliver seamless

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2-4 years of backend development experience, ideally in real-time communications (RTC).
• Proficiency in Go or Python.
• Experience with audio/video codecs, streaming protocols, and media servers.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize real-time audio/video streaming services.
• Work with protocols such as WebRTC, SIP, RTP, or related technologies.
• Ensure high performance, low latency, and fault-tolerant communication pipelines.

We're looking for a Backend Software Engineer with a strong background in AI + real-time audio to join our engineering team in China. You will play a key role in building and optimizing communication features that power high-quality, low-latency conversations for our global customers.

Responsibility

• Design, develop, and optimize real-time audio/video streaming services
• Work with protocols such as WebRTC, SIP, RTP, or related technologies
• Ensure high performance, low latency, and fault-tolerant communication pipelines
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to deliver seamless user experiences
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable backend code
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to media services

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 2-4 years of backend development experience, ideally in real-time communications (RTC)
• Proficiency in Go or Python
• Experience with audio/video codecs, streaming protocols, and media servers
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and distributed systems
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

Bonus Points

• Experience with WebRTC-based platforms
• Experience with AI agents and voice LLM
• Knowledge of scaling media services for large user bases
