Job summary

The role demands a university degree in Science, Engineering, Construction or equivalent, plus extensive experience in quality management, auditor training, and strong English and Chinese reporting skills.

Qualifications

• University degree in Science, Engineering, Construction, or equivalent.
• Auditor training in quality management systems is required.
• Fluency in English and Chinese for reporting and stakeholder communication.
• Membership of a relevant chartered quality institution is an advantage.
• 10+ years of relevant experience for Quality Manager; less experienced candidates may be considered for Quality Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and improve quality management systems on site and across the company.
• Supervise subordinates in maintaining management systems.
• Advise management on quality aspects and monitor compliance.
• Handle ad hoc quality matters across the company and site.
• Plan and conduct internal audits, inspections, and training.
• Schedule and arrange external audits and quality promotion activities.
• Review and update manuals and procedures of management systems.
• Review management systems for continual improvement at company and site level.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

This role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality management systems across the company and on site. The position is open at two levels, with candidates considered for Quality Engineer based on experience.

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited has been active in Hong Kong's construction industry since 1979, undertaking building construction and civil engineering works. The company holds Group C approved contractor status across five public works categories, including Buildings, Port Works, Roads and Drainage, Site Formation, and Waterworks.

What you'll be doing?

• Quality management systems: Assist management in developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving quality management systems across the company and on site.
• Team supervision: Supervise subordinates in maintaining and improving management systems.
• Quality advisory: Advise management on relevant quality aspects and monitor compliance.
• Ad hoc quality matters: Handle ad hoc quality-related matters across the company and site as they arise.
• Audits and inspections: Plan and conduct regular internal audits, inspections, and training within the company and on site.
• External audits: Schedule and arrange external audits and quality promotion activities.
• Documentation review: Review and update manuals and procedures of management systems.
• Continuous improvement: Review management systems for continual improvement at both company and site level.
• Ad hoc duties: Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned from time to time.

Who are they looking for?

• Academic qualification: University degree in Science, Engineering, Construction, or an equivalent discipline.
• Relevant experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in managing quality matters in the industry is required for Quality Manager candidates.
• Less experienced candidates: Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Quality Engineer position.
• Professional qualification: Membership of a relevant chartered institution in quality is an advantage.
• Auditor training: Auditor training in quality management systems is required.
• Industry knowledge: Proficiency in quality requirements and relevant international standards in the industry is required.
• Interpersonal skills: Superior interpersonal and communication skills with sound judgement are required.
• Language proficiency: Fluency in English and Chinese is required for reporting, presentations, and stakeholder communication.
• Reporting skills: Excellent reporting and presentation skills are required.
