Job summary

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of PR experience in Hong Kong or APAC, agency background, and fluency in English and Mandarin (Cantonese a plus).

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive PR and corporate communications experience in Hong Kong or APAC.
• Agency background required; in-house experience with agency background is a plus.
• Experience managing PR campaigns in Energy, Sustainability/ESG, or Beauty/Personal Care.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin; Cantonese proficiency is a plus.
• Proven media networks in Greater China and Mainland China.

Role Overview

We are seeking an energetic, strategically minded, and self-sufficient Public Relations Manager to join our team in Hong Kong. In this high-impact role, you will lead regional corporate communications, brand PR, and media relations across the Asia-Pacific region, with a strong focus on Mainland China and Greater China markets.

The ideal candidate blends high-level strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You have a proven track record navigating the intersection of Energy, Sustainability, and/or Beauty, bringing established networks with top-tier Chinese and regional media outlets.

Key Responsibilities

• Regional Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute end-to-end PR and communication strategies across APAC, driving regional brand visibility while tailoring messages to local market nuances
• Chinese Media Relations: Leverage an established network of trade, corporate, and lifestyle journalists, editors, influencers, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Greater China
• Industry Positioning: Craft compelling narratives around sustainability initiatives, energy transitions, and clean/innovative beauty trends to position the company as an industry leader
• Agency & Stakeholder Management: Direct agency partners, manage press releases, organize regional media tours, press conferences, product launches, and high-profile industry events
• Crisis & Issues Management: Act as a key advisor during sensitive situations, preparing reactive statements, media Q&As, and managing brand reputation across Chinese and regional media channels
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a proactive team player, working closely with marketing, corporate sustainability, legal, and executive leadership teams to ensure messaging alignment
• Social Media Strategy: Develop content strategies for channels like Douyin, WeChat and Weibo that align with each platforms’ focus and taps into current trends to increase reach.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 5–7 years of progressive PR and corporate communications experience in Hong Kong or APAC
• Agency Background: Prior PR agency experience is required; in-house experience alongside agency background is a strong plus
• Industry Expertise: Direct experience managing PR campaigns in at least two of these sectors: Energy, Sustainability/ESG, or Beauty/Personal Care
• Language Skills: Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin (spoken & written) is essential, given the heavy focus on Mainland Chinese media relations. Cantonese proficiency is an advantage
• Media Network: Proven, active contacts with business, sustainability, tech, and lifestyle media in Greater China and Mainland China
• Mindset & Work Style: Highly self-sufficient, resourceful, and capable of leading initiatives independently while maintaining a collaborative, team-first approach
