Job summary

Hospital Authority is seeking a Temporary Part-time Patient Care Assistant II (SOPD) for Ruttonjee and Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals in the HK Island Cluster. The role covers diverse SOPD duties under supervision, with focus on patient care delivery and basic clinical support.

The position requires Form 5 completion, a certified ECG training program, and bilingual English-Chinese communication. Selected candidates join a temporary term up to 6 months, with online application via the HA Careers site.

Qualifications

• Completion of Form 5 / Secondary 5 or equivalent.
• Holder of Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Clinical Assistant) Training Program Certificate in ECG training organized by Hospital Authority (HA).
• Good command of English and Chinese, written and spoken

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care delivery and basic patient intervention according to nursing instruction.
• Assist doctor/nurse to perform procedure or investigation.
• Check patient’s condition including performing ECG, measuring blood pressure, height and weight, urine test, etc.
• Provide patient education / instruction as according to protocol.
• Preparing specimen label under nurse guidance/direction and delivering/collection specimen sample/result from laboratory/Department of Pathology.
• Conduct routine quality check of POCT equipment and assist patients in performing POCT test.
• Handling of patient/public enquiries.
• Perform daily disinfection, care and maintenance of medical equipment and environmental cleansing.
• Handling clinical waste and patient transport.
• Operate necessary equipment required to perform supporting services.
• Assist in stock taking and inventory checking.
• Handle other clerical support duties, e.g. filing of documents, data entry.
• Assist the coordination work of patient flow.
• Assist to train and coach less experienced/ junior staff.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
