Job summary

TSS Hong Kong is seeking an experienced Middle Office Operations professional for a contract BAU backfill to support a multi-year strategic project. You will manage end-to-end trade lifecycle with focus on ETD/OTC derivatives, perform reconciliations, and act as a key liaison across Front Office, Technology, Finance and Risk.

The role demands 6–10 years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and advanced Excel. SQL, VBA or Python experience is a plus for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of Middle Office/Investment Operations or Trade Support experience in buy-side environments.
• Proven experience with derivatives trade support (ETD and OTC).
• Strong knowledge of the full trade lifecycle across asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, FX).
• Experience with reconciliations (cash, position, transactions) and corporate actions.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
• Advanced Excel; SQL, VBA, or Python would be a plus.
• Experience with trading and reconciliation platforms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end trade lifecycle for multiple asset classes, focusing on trade support for ETD and OTC derivatives.

• Perform daily cash, position and transaction reconciliations; investigate and resolve breaks.
• Support corporate actions processing and other operational activities as needed.
• Provide dedicated derivative instrument support across futures, options, swaps and other instruments.
• Support operations for other asset classes including equities, fixed income and FX.
• Manage collateral and margin activities related to derivative trades.
• Act as operations liaison between Front Office, Technology, Finance, Risk and external counterparties.
• Identify operational risks, gaps and efficiency improvement opportunities.

My Client is seeking an experienced Middle Office Operations professional to join their team on a contract basis. This is a Business-As-Usual (BAU) backfill role created to support a multi-year strategic project within the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end trade lifecycle for a variety of asset classes, with a primary focus on trade support, including exchange-traded derivatives (ETD) and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives
• Oversee daily trade capture, affirmation, allocation, and settlement processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Perform daily cash, position, and transaction reconciliations, investigating and resolving breaks or discrepancies with internal records and external counterparties
• Support corporate actions processing, lifecycle events, and other operational processes as needed
• Provide dedicated support for derivatives instruments (ETD and OTC), including futures, options, swaps, and other instruments
• Support operations for other asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and FX
• Manage collateral and margin activities related to derivative trades
• Act as a key operational point of contact, liaising between Front Office (Trading/Portfolio Management), Technology, Finance, Risk, and external parties (brokers, custodians, counterparties)
• Investigate and resolve operational queries and exceptions effectively, utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proactively identify operational risks, process gaps, and opportunities for efficiency improvements

About you

• 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in Middle Office, Investment Operations, or Trade Support within a buy-side environment (e.g., Asset Manager, Hedge Fund, Pension Fund)
• Proven experience with derivatives trade support (ETD and OTC) is essential
• Strong practical knowledge of the full trade lifecycle and post-trade operations across multiple asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, FX)
• Experience with reconciliations (cash, position, and transactions), corporate actions, and cash management
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to resolve complex issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
• A self-starter who can deliver results with minimal oversight and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced proficiency in Excel is required; experience with SQL, VBA, or Python is a plus
• Experience with trading and reconciliation platforms is highly advantageous
