Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Core Site Reliability Engineer to operate at the intersection of software engineering, production operations, and trading infrastructure. You will ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of global electronic trading platforms, collaborating with developers, traders, and infrastructure teams.

This role emphasizes building automation, improving monitoring, and reducing toil in a high-pressure, latency-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills in Python, C++, or another modern programming language.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and multicast.
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and automation tooling.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
• Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively during high-pressure production incidents.

Responsibilities

• Own the health, stability, and performance of critical trading systems.
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues spanning applications, infrastructure, networks, and market connectivity.
• Build tools and automation to eliminate operational toil.
• Improve monitoring, observability, and alerting across production environments.
• Support and optimise ultra-low latency trading infrastructure.
• Partner with traders, developers, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and efficiency.
• Drive continuous improvements across deployments, troubleshooting workflows, and operational processes.
