We're partnering with a global hedge fund seeking a Trading Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) / Production Support Engineer to support and improve its front-office equities trading platform.
Working across Python scripting, Linux/Unix environments, production monitoring, incident management and trading application support, you'll ensure the reliability and performance of systems used by portfolio managers, traders and investment analysts to manage positions, monitor P&L, assess risk and execute investment strategies.
This isn't a conventional support role where success is measured by how quickly you close tickets. The expectation is that you'll understand why systems fail, improve their reliability and automate away recurring problems.
You'll operate at the intersection of software engineering, trading technology and investment operations, with direct exposure to the people whose investment decisions depend on the platforms you support.
When something breaks at 7 am, the trading desk needs someone who understands both the technology and the commercial implications.
But equally importantly, the firm wants someone who will make sure the same issue doesn't happen again.
You'll join a sophisticated technology environment where the systems you support are directly connected to investment performance. The role offers a combination of front-office exposure, hands-on technical problem-solving, scripting, automation and production engineering. You'll work alongside experienced developers, gain a deeper understanding of how an investment platform operates and have meaningful input into how systems are improved.
For an engineer who enjoys the immediacy of trading technology but wants more ownership, more automation and fewer repetitive support tasks, this offers an interesting progression.
