Job description

We are seeking a highly technical CTO / Lead Engineer to drive the development of low-latency trading infrastructure for a global systematic proprietary trading firm.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role for someone who can combine strong software engineering expertise with a deep understanding of trading systems and market infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead the design and development of core trading technology from the ground up, with an initial focus on building infrastructure to support trading across Chinese markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Build trading infrastructure from the ground up: Design and develop a proprietary trading server and core trading infrastructure, taking ownership from initial architecture through implementation and production deployment.
• Develop low-latency systems: Build and optimise high-performance trading infrastructure, focusing on latency, reliability, throughput and execution efficiency.
• Support Chinese market trading: Lead the development of the infrastructure required to support the firm's trading activities across Chinese markets.
• Provide technical leadership: Establish the engineering architecture, technical standards and development practices required to build robust, production-grade trading systems.
• Remain hands-on: Write high-quality production code, contribute to critical engineering decisions, and lead by example through technical execution.
• Collaborate with trading and quantitative teams: Work closely with traders, quantitative researchers and other engineers to translate trading strategies and execution requirements into reliable technology.
• Drive platform scalability and resilience: Ensure systems are designed for performance, fault tolerance, operational stability and future expansion across markets.
• Build and develop engineering capability: Lead technical delivery and help establish the engineering team and infrastructure needed to support the firm's growth.

Required Experience & Technical Skills

• Strong software engineering background, with the ability to code at a high level and lead complex technical projects.
• Professional experience developing trading systems, electronic trading infrastructure or other performance-critical financial technology.
• Strong proficiency in one or more of the following languages: C++, Python, Go (Golang) or Rust.
• Experience designing and building low-latency, high-throughput systems.
• A strong understanding of trading infrastructure, execution systems, market connectivity or exchange-facing technology.
• Experience owning systems end to end, from architecture and development through to production deployment and ongoing optimisation.
• The ability to operate in a fast-paced, technically demanding proprietary trading environment.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to communicate effectively with team.
