Job summary

Queen Mary Hospital on Hong Kong Island seeks a Bioinformatician to lead bioinformatics analysis and data management. The role requires governance of analyses and integration of new technologies to support genomics initiatives.

You will provide expert consultation on data analysis, statistics, and bioinformatics, review SOPs and laboratory reports, and supervise staff. A strong background in clinical diagnostics and multi-omics is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Bioinformatics or related discipline or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of working experience in bioinformatics.
• Experience with large-scale multi-omics data.
• Extensive experience in bioinformatics solutions for clinical diagnostics or research.
• Thorough understanding of sequencing, genomics, and molecular diagnostics, plus QA systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead bioinformatics analysis and data management.
• Establish and maintain governance processes for bioinformatics analyses.
• Evaluate and incorporate up-to-date technologies into initiatives.
• Produce documentation of algorithms, validations, SOPs, and related processes.
• Provide consultation on data analysis, statistics, and genomics to the team.
• Review or draft laboratory reports and SOPs.
• Oversee general laboratory duties such as accreditation and document control.
• Liaise with pathologists, clinicians and IT staff to meet service needs.
• Supervise bioinformatics staff and train laboratory and clinical staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
