Job summary

Hong Kong Metropolitan University invites applications for the role of Assistant Manager (Laboratory Management) in the School of Science and Technology. You will oversee day-to-day lab operations, manage inventory and maintenance, and support space organisation within the Industrial Centre for teaching and research.

The position requires a degree in Applied Science or related field, leadership experience in labs, strong safety knowledge, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in Applied Science or related discipline with post-qualification experience.
• Experience leading laboratories or core facilities.
• Strong understanding of lab operations, safety protocols, equipment management and maintenance.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure; bilingual English/Chinese preferred.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day lab operations, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
• Organising laboratory spaces within the Industrial Centre for teaching and research.
• Managing administrative, financial and HR matters of the laboratories.
• Conducting laboratory inspections and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Handling laboratory safety and ensuring safe practices.
• Supporting laboratory courses and research projects.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the School.
