Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation invites applications for a Contract Associate in Hong Kong within the Japanese Corporate Group. The incumbent will conduct KYC/AML due diligence on corporate clients, review documentation, and assess risk profiles to ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires 3+ years in KYC/AML, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency in English and Chinese; Japanese is a plus.

Qualifications

• University graduate with a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years in corporate banking KYC/AML or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of KYC requirements and AML regulations.
• Detail-oriented, analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a team player.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing KYC due diligence and enhanced due diligence on corporate clients to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review and verify client identifications, corporate structures, ownership info, and UBOS to assess risk profiles.
• Perform risk assessments on customer information, transactions, and negative media for money laundering/terrorist financing risks.
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Operations, Legal, Compliance to resolve KYC/AML issues and ensure timely case closure.
• Maintain accurate KYC records and documentation to meet policies and audits.
• Stay informed of changes in regulations, industry trends, and best practices for KYC/AML.
• Support periodic KYC reviews, remediation projects, and implementation of new KYC policies.
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.
