Job summary

PFCC Group is seeking a Backend Engineer in Hong Kong to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services. You will work with Java or Kotlin in a cloud-native microservices environment, building RESTful APIs and event-driven services while ensuring reliability and performance.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Develop, maintain, and enhance backend services using Java or Kotlin within a cloud-native microservices environment.
• API Development: Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services, ensuring reliability, performance, and compatibility.
• Microservices & Databases: Work with microservices, distributed systems, event streams, and relational databases to support business applications.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Deploy and support backend applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
• CI/CD & Automation: Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes to improve development and release efficiency.
• Testing & Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code and develop unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
• Production Support: Monitor backend services, troubleshoot technical issues, and participate in incident resolution and service improvements.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders in an Agile environment to deliver features and enhancements.
• AI-Assisted Development: Explore and use AI-assisted coding tools to improve development productivity and code quality.

Requirements:

• 3–6 years of hands-on software development experience, preferably in backend engineering using Java or Kotlin.
• Good understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
• Familiarity with automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern software development practices.
• Hands‑on experience or working knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerised application environments.
• Willingness to participate in production support, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is an advantage.
