The Egg in Hong Kong seeks an autonomous HR Manager to lead HR operations, L&D and recruitment for a multicultural APAC team. You will partner with managers to align practices with global standards while respecting local regulations across jurisdictions.

You will manage payroll, compliance, benefits and talent development, while driving employer branding to attract top talent in a dynamic digital agency environment. Fluency in English and Chinese is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a standalone role.
  • Experience collaborating with international colleagues across time zones and cultures.
  • Hands-on HR knowledge in L&D, recruitment, ER and performance management.
  • Familiar with local employment laws across jurisdictions; China exposure is a plus.
  • Experience in marketing/tech agency sector is preferred.
  • Strong written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin).

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage day‑to‑day HR operations across jurisdictions.
  • Oversee onboarding, payroll (HK), leaves and exits processes.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies aligned with global standards and local regs.

As a standalone HR Manager, you will be the cornerstone of our HR function, operating with a high degree of autonomy and directly contributing to shaping our HR strategy and practices across the group. You will be responsible for executing and streamlining HR operations, leading learning and development initiatives, and driving the recruitment process. This hands‑on position requires an HR professional with experience in managing multiple jurisdictions and the ability to independently handle a broad spectrum of HR functions, along with a strong appreciation for cultural diversity as you work with employees, managers, and external partners from various backgrounds.

Role Responsibilities:
HR Operations:
  • Independently manage day‑to‑day HR operations, ensuring compliance with local labor laws in each jurisdiction.
  • Manage the entire employee lifecycle, from onboarding to exit processes.
  • Develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures that align with both global standards and local regulations.
  • Ensure all employee records are accurate, up-to-date, and comply with legal requirements
Learning & Development:
  • Identify training needs and design L&D programs to support employee development and align with business objectives.
  • Work closely with departments to facilitate talent development plans.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and self‑improvement across all teams.
Recruitment:
  • Create and implement recruitment strategies to attract and secure top talent across diverse markets.
  • Manage the entire recruitment process, from job postings to selection and making offer and closing.
  • Develop employer branding initiatives to enhance the agency’s appeal as a desirable workplace.
  • Gather market salary benchmarking from secondary source, compile and update for compensation reviews.
Payroll and Compensation:
  • Responsible for payroll administration, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across all locations.
  • Collaborate with external payroll providers to manage payroll-related issues.
  • For Hong Kong, prepare payroll, payslips, MPF, tax returns, and HK visa applications.
  • Source, compare and recommend employee benefits to remain competitive in the market.
HR Advisory and Support:
  • Provide HR guidance and support to management and employees, promoting informed decision‑making.
  • Implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Support organizational initiatives to foster a cohesive and dynamic company culture
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of Human Resources working experience, preferably within a generalist function and in a standalone capacity.
  • Experience, ability, or strong interest in supporting and collaborating with international colleagues across multiple time zones and diverse culture.
  • Comprehensive HR knowledge, especially hands‑on experience in learning & development, recruitment, employee relations and performance management.
  • Knowledge of local compliance and labour laws across multiple jurisdictions especially China, and able to troubleshoot issues where applicable with local outsourced HR companies is a plus.
  • Experience within the marketing agency or technology sector preferred.
  • Strong written and oral English and Chinese (Cantonese / Mandarin) required. Japanese / Korean is a plus.
  • Familiar with BambooHR, Microsoft Teams, and Teamflect is desirable.
